Lee Velma Acklin

February 28, 1936 — October 27, 2024

Velma Rogers Acklin was born on February 28, 1936 to the late Louella Manson Clardy- Babb and Willie Roy Rogers in Montgomery County, TN.

Velma attended Burt High School and furthered her education to become a Nursing Tech.

Velma worked as a cab driver for a brief time, then in 1964 she began working at Memorial hospital where she met Dr. Hall, and they developed a friendship that turned into an extended family. Velma began working with the Hall family in that same year, she had a special bond with not only Dr. Hall but Mrs. Hall and the children Pam, Mike, and Allen. This bond continued even after she retired from Memorial Hospital with more than 30 years of faithful and dedicated service.

Velma joined Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Scott, and was a faithful member and active in Sunday School until her health declined, she loved to study taking II Timothy 2:15 very serious “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

She loved the Lord and always started her day reading her bible, getting on her knees to pray and watching Joyce Meyer with a cup of coffee.

Anyone that knew her, knows that every conversation ended with her saying God loves you and so do I, and make sure to be aware of your surroundings or I love you and there is nothing you can do about it.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Faynella Clardy Johnson and grandson Deonte’ Acklin

Velma leaves to cherish her memory son Timothy Dwane Acklin, Grandsons DaQuantis, DaVante and Dominique, Great-Grandchildren, Aubrielle, A’brion, Korey and Dominique Alma and her forever daughter in love Katina Rogers, Nephew Gregory Johnson (Cynthia), Nieces Audrey Allen (Gregory), Cathy Butler, cousin Carol Mayo and a host of extended family and friends.
