Reverend William Davis Johnson, was born to the proud parents, Mattie William Carney and Gillis Johnson in Clarksville Montgomery County Tennessee on March 10, 1925. He entered eternal rest November 20, 2022. He was a long-time resident of Guthrie, KY and was educated in the public school system.
Affectionately known by his nickname “Dope” by his friends and family, accepted Christ at an early age and joined Guildfield Baptist Church, in Guthrie, KY where he was a faithful member. He met and married Beulah Mae Pendleton Johnson also of Guthrie. He later was called into the ministry and was ordained as a Baptist Minister. Reverend Johnson traveled throughout Todd County and Montgomery County proclaiming the Word of God. He supported several churches in the area. When his health began to fail, he later joined Mt Pisgah Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN.
Rev Johnson was employed by State Stove Industries and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. He loved cars and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah, two children: Lonnie Johnson and Mildred Cleveland and one grandson: Victor Z Johnson Jr.
Rev. Johnson leaves behind to cherish his memory: Sons- Frankie L. Johnson, Guthrie Ky. Victor Z. (Jeannetta) Johnson, Guthrie Ky. Daughters- Etta Joyce Oliver, and Wanda (Ronnie) Snorden, both of Clarksville, TN, and Stephanie (David) Gold, Savannah Ga. 10 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. Along with a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
