Rena Mae Harris Linton was born December 22, 1933, in Belhaven, North Carolina to the late Marion and Maggie Harris. She was the third of four children, with her three siblings, Robenia, Willie Lee and Mary Lee preceding her in death. God called Rena home to her eternal rest at 9:29pm on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Woodbridge, Virgina.
Rena was married to the late Euralphane Linton for 36 years and to this union two children were born; the late Eural C. Linton and Rev. W. Earl Linton, Major (Ret.) US Army.
Rena Mae gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. James Disciples of Christ in Belhaven, NC. She attended Belhaven High School. She accompanied her husband throughout his military career during tours in Germany and throughout the United States. She retired from the Sims Guest House at Fort Campbell, KY after more than 25 years of outstanding service.
Mother Rena Linton A Committed Servant
Mother Rena Linton began her service immediately upon joining the Fort Campbell Community Chapel Gospel Service. Her passion being youth ministry, she was instrumental in organizing and directing the “Angel Choir,” aged 3 and up, singing and spelling their signature song, F-A-I-T-H, all you need is a little bit of faith. She served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir, the Hospitality Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Sunday School, Bible Study and as a Representative member-at-large of the Parish Council.
Rena was known to be a giving person. She would send birthday cards; sympathy cards and cards of encouragement to her family and friends and you could always expect to find a “little something” in them. She gave to numerous charities and she loved giving turkeys to families in need at Thanksgiving. One of her favorite scriptures was Hebrews 13:1 “Let brotherly love continue”. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Rev. W. Earl Linton (Anna) of Woodbridge VA, three grandchildren, Tonya Holmes of Columbus, MS, Natasha Sharpe (Larry) of Woodbridge VA and Bryan Linton of Woodbridge, VA; five great-grandchildren, Marion, Amelia and Jada of Columbus, MS; Larry and LeAnna of Woodbridge, VA; two nephews, Ricky Bonner(Anita) of Marietta, GA and Steve Watson of Brooklyn, NY; two nieces, Marrena and Wynter Bonner of Brooklyn, NY; two great-nephews, Jacob and Jordan Bonner of Marietta, GA and a host of other relatives, loving church members and friends.
