James Oscar Barker

Mr. James “Sunny” Barker was born December 20, 1951 in Clarksville, Tennessee, to the proud parents Mandy and Robin Whitfield. Sunny departed this life on August 30, 2022.

Sunny was married to Rose Satter-Barker, who preceded him in death.

He was retired from Austin Peay State University. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and would get his exercise by taking daily walks to the “Neighborhood Market”.

James leaves behind to cherish his memory; Sisters- Sarah (Faye)Head, Rena Whitfield. Brother- Richard Barker. Children- Lisa Gaines, Margie Gaines, and Anthony Gaines. Nieces- Latesha Whitfield, Vanessa Whitfield, and Lanetta Whitfield. Nephews- Timothy Whitfield, Jacory Whitfield, and Travaughn and Traquan Whitfield. Special cousin- Antoine (TaQuita)Gray and a host of friends and family. In addition to his parents and wife. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nora Gaines.

Visitation Saturday, September 10, 2022, 1-2 with funeral to follow at fh. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
