Mrs. Evelyn Gean Radford Boyd was born on February 27, 1941 to the union of Elgene Radford and Likey Virginia Irving Radford in Cerulean, Kentucky. She went to her Heavenly Home on August 6, 2024, at the age of Eighty-Three.
Evelyn accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cave Spring Missionary Baptist Church, in Cerulean, Kentucky. After marriage she continued serving God at Shepherd Street Baptist Church in Princeton, Kentucky. Evelyn and her family relocated to Detroit, Michigan. She became a member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church and actively served on the Mothers’ Board. Upon returning back home she settled in Clarksville, Tennessee and remained a faithful member at Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church until she transitioned into the presence of God.
Evelyn attended the Cerulean school system and she graduated from Wayne University Culinary School. Being a culinary chef Evelyn enjoyed cooking soul food. A few of her hobbies included completing word searches, watching baseball and of course CNN.
Evelyn united in marriage with Alfred Bernell Boyd Sr and to this union six children were born. Five children preceded her in death – Sherry Elaine Shemwell Radford, Alfred Eugene Boyd, Clinton Darnell Boyd, Melvin Douglas Boyd and Michael Thomas Boyd.
Those left to cherish her loving memory include her daughter Mrs. Phyliss Boyd Green. 20 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. Evelyn leaves behind a Devoted and Loving Grandson, Michael Louis Boyd. Her siblings: Mae Florence (Maurice) Paulus, Virginia Sledge, Rhi Nell Weldon, Delores Bradner, Debra Jenkins, Flossie Cross Radford, Norris Radford, Ricky Radford and Charles W. Radford. A large host of cousins and friends.
